In 2017, VUNA was selected to collaborate on a 3-year Price Risk Management program funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and co-funded by Oikocredit, Catholic Relief Services (CRS), Fair Trade USA and Keurig Dr. Pepper. The program engaged a total of twenty-two producer organizations in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, Colombia and Peru.

Jointly with Oikocredit, VUNA developed an innovative training methodology to engage all levels of an organization, from the board to field staff. The scope of the Price Risk Management training includes building expertise in the key strategic areas of management, physical strategies, hedging strategies, information systems and governance.

REPOSITIONING SORGEBA FOREST COFFEES IN THE INTERNALTIONAL SPECIALTY MARKETS

We are proud to be part of Sustainability and Value Added in Agricultural Supply Chains (SUVASE) project. This project supports the launch of Sorgeba forest coffee for the international specialty market.

Specifically, the project implements technical guidance and measures, such as acquisition of certifications, good agricultural practices training, establishing quality control procedure & facilities, increasing the post-harvest management capacities, and piloting a digital traceability system through Beyco Platform.

VUNA’s role is to conduct market research and value chain assessments, to shape the strategy of accessing new markets and increasing profitability.

Established in 2019, the Coffee Innovation Fund, implemented by GIZ , sponsors pioneering projects in Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar and Ethiopia to increase profitability of coffee farmers and coffee entrepreneurs.

Vuna was brought in to support a Myanmar start-up for their dual mission: launching a new specialty coffee brand in the country and securing export markets for their green coffee.

Digital Sales for Green Coffee

Build & activate a multi-channel digital marketing campaign to promote Sorgeba forest coffee

Establish a scalable digital foundation for access to market

Vuna is tasked bu GIZ to identify innovative way to promote Sorgeba, a relatively unknown producer organization, to the international specialty market. We decided to build a 6 weeks of digital marketing campaign that encompasses 3 different channels (email, social, and website). The storyline is handcrafted and limited edition sample was delivered to the first 10 subscriber. The event ends with a live webinar, where more than 20 potential buyers attended and shared the interest in Sorgeba.
